Never Ending
5950 years of change.
We are once again in a Political season; in 20 years have we been out of one? Have we as a people lost the original vision of those brave men and women who founded this the greatest Nation God gave mankind? What would the founders think of us now? Would they turn in their resting places' to know how far we have gone off the straight and narrow road?
I was born 10/23/1953, at that time I believe Harry Truman was the Commander and Chief, then Dwight Eisenhower, soon to follow was John Kennedy. The race between Kennedy and Nixon was the first Presidential campaign I paid any attention to only because Kennedy was Catholic, and of course my family was Protestant that is to say my parents were; I was all of 6 years old what did I care? I was raised not to judge a person by their color,or their beliefs or lack thereof, all people were the same. Not knowing what difference it made, my Dad, told me being something other than Christian was wrong, but he voted for J.F.K. anyway. Needless to say I was confused.
A question; What happened to "Ask not what your country can do for you,ask what can you do for your country"? I am not sure when John F.Kennedy said that, all I know is that now some people feel this country owes them. It does not matter what political party is in the majority,if there is a problem throw more money at it. I am sorry to say we have slowly but sure as God made little green apples become a "Nanny State". If they can't (will not) work, give them what is needed, don't give them any reason to earn their own way, tell them all they are to stupid to make a life, and that our help is needed. There is a good example of how much of a "Nanny State" this Nation has become, two words Katrina and Rita! Unfortunately this has become a campaign theme of how much our government has failed. I say the government has not failed, to many of the citizens in the effected area have no idea how to care for themselves, they been on some sort of Government assistance for up to four generations. Those poor neglected human beings have never been taught or showed how to make it on their own. The men and women we elect these days I'm sure of their good intentions, but there must be something in the air or water in Washington D.C that make them think they are "Robin Hood". Take from those who have and give it to the few who don't.
I voted for the first time ever in the 2004 Presidential election, I believe my vote put George W.Bush over the top. I know that there are few who read this and be filled with hatred for G.W Bush and me, honestly I would not change anything. This election season I have not seen or heard one of them worth my vote or anyones for that matter.
I have seen our country go form a can do attitude to the, "you can'tdo it so let me do it for you". It have gotten to the point that the United States of America has become to the caretaker of the world and has also become the most hated country in the world. The question is why? When the citizens of the world need help, who do they turn to? Who is first to offer financial relief? Who is first the send military support? This has become so bad that our government now as guilt or is made to feel guilty because we have built this nation into the richest, strongest, and most prosperous ever in the history of mankind. Our commpassion for others is slowly becoming our undoing I guess it could be considered class envy by the rest of the world. Throwing money at any problem does not solve it, (give them fish they eat for a day, teach them to fish they eat for life.) That is exactly what we are now doing in Iraq today, and it is what we should in our own country, teach our people to make their own way with a hand up and not a hand out.
Given a chance the current crop of candidates would make our Representative Republic (Democracy) into a Socialist State the same kind for Governments our founding fathers were escaping also the same kind of oppressive rule that many of the "Eastern Block" countries once ruled by Communist Russia rejected. It is time to take back our great nation founded for the people and by the people, vote for those who still have moral value, and vision, who are not afraid to step back and do the will of "We the People", to bring our country back to rule of law, both God's and our Constitution. Vote out the career politicians, those who have let power go to their heads. Vote the person not the party, vote for the person who agrees with your principles.
